For those of you who have been living under a rock, Bill Gates founded Microsoft and is very, very rich. He is most likely the richest person on planet Earth, but many different sources estimate net worths differently, so it is hard to see who is actually the worlds richest man, although it is pretty much a two horse race now between Mr Gates and Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon. What we do know is that they both have an unbelievable amount of money. Today I’m going to focus on Bill Gates specifically – many know his net worth to be roughly $90 billion dollars, but to me this is simply too much to comprehend. Today I will try to put this number into perspective for you, so you can get your head around how much cash the microsoft founder has racked up.
From interest alone, Bill Gates generates about $128 dollars per second. There are many people in this world that would kill to make $128 a day, and Bill does it every single second. This calculates to roughly $4.1 billion dollars a year, purely through interest.
Imagine being followed around and handed a $100 bill every single second. Very quickly, you’d run out of places to put it! Every drawer, every cabinet would be stuffed to the brim with cash.
If Bill Gates were to go to a restaurant and have a 2 hour dinner, he’d have made $922,000 by the time he’s done.
If all of Mr Gates’ money was stacked up in $100 bills, the stack would be about 55 MILES high.
If he gave every single person on earth $10 at Christmas, he’d still have roughly 1.4 billion dollars remaining.
If Bill wanted to spend $1,000,000 a day, it would take him 218 years to spend all of his money.
If Bill gates wanted to make it rain in a club, things would get pretty messy. Assuming he could throw 4 $1 bills a second, and his entire net worth was accessible, he would technically be able to make it rain forever, because of the money he generates from interest. In fact, he could throw 128 $1 bills a second and still never run out of cash. Throwing 4 x $100 notes a second, Mr Gates could make it rain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for just over 64 years. Mind = blown.
With this sort of money, comes huge responsibility. There are very few people on this earth that, given the same circumstances, would use it as nobly as Bill. The 62 year old set up The Gates Foundation, which is the second most charitable, and largest private charity organisation in the world. Bill has given away roughly $32 billion to a range of charities. Yes, you read that correctly. $32 billion!
I personally don’t believe this money could be in better hands. Bill Gates is a huge inspiration and an unbelievably generous man. I wanted to share these facts with you as motivation – dreams do come true. If Bill Gates can fill an Olympic sized swimming pools with $1 coins from interest alone in just 54 days, then surely you can go out there and create some success for yourself.
Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed these crazy facts and managed to draw some motivation from them. Dm me on Instagram @dailybusinessthoughts if you enjoyed this blog, and tune in again next week for my next article.
